Summer Travel Is On The Rise

In June 4, 2019

If you are a frequent traveler or an airline/airport employee, then you are familiar with annual summer travel. This is the time of year where we see a huge jump in people traveling during the 13-week summer vacation season.

“This summer U.S. airlines are anticipating that a record 257.4 million of your closest friends will be joining you in the skies between June 1 and August 31, up 3.4% compared to a year ago. And it means there’ll be an average of about 2.8 million people flying per day during the summer. That’s about 93,000 more per day, on average, over the summer of 2018.”

To manage the growth in demand, U.S. carriers are expected to have about 111,000 more seats per day for travelers than they had a year ago. Many airlines have decided to stuff additional seats in existing aircrafts.
